Theodore’s POV

I had tolerated enough whispers from the pack members, but from the elders too? From them? Right in front of me?

That was a direct slap to my face. A blatant show of disrespect.

And I wasn’t going to sit there and let it slide. Not when it involved Adeline.

I couldn’t bring myself to sit back and watch them hurl careless words about her, as if she were some toy in a game they thought they understood.

It wasn’t her fault that Iris was a cheat.

It wasn’t her fault that things had ended the way they did.

No one even knew what had really happened between Iris and me. No one. Not even Adeline.

They had just woken up one day to find Iris gone, and soon after, I was marrying her sister. That was all they saw. That was all they chose to believe.

I wondered—if I told them the truth, if I exposed the version of Iris they refused to see—would they still hold her in such high regard?
