Chapter 143. An Unwelcome Visitor

Rufus’s POV

I managed to sneak into our bedroom, slinking through the door. I made no sound at all. I just wanted a visual on Freya to make sure she was still safe.

Smiling to myself, I caught her face illuminated in the moonlight and saw she was peaceful and fast asleep. Her breathing seemed slow and deep, so I knew she was in a deep slumber.

‘She’s so cute,’ I said to my wolf Silver, as I stirred him from his own slumber.

‘What?’ Silver asked ‘What are you blathering on about now, old man,’ From his voice, Silver was grouchy after I had rudely awoken him.

‘Freya,’ I said with a deep sigh ‘She’s so adorable, just sleeping there, look at her.’

‘You do realize how creepy you are right now Rufus,’ Silver said with a yawn ‘Watching women sleeping now? Is that your new pastime?’ He paused ‘Yes, very cute. Now I’m going back to sleep. Try not to watch me.’

I chuckled ‘When you’re as cute as Freya, maybe.’

Silver didn’t respond, and I
