Chapter 39. Rufus in the Storm
Freya’s POV
“Do you need any help closing up?” I asked Matt as the last diner had left for the evening. I tugged at the strings of my apron as I handed it back to him.
Matt smiled and his blue eyes shimmered. “You can keep that,” he said, gesturing toward the apron. “You’ll need to buy a cute dress to pair with it too,” he brushed his finger against his chin. “I’m thinking lilac would look so good on you.”
“What?” I asked as I felt myself bubble with excitement. “Did I get the job?”
Matt nodded. “You sure did! I am really impressed with your ability to pick up the tasks. You’ll be a fine addition to the diner. “ He paused, learning up against the bar. “But to answer your question, no I don’t need any help. You get yourself home, it’s getting dark. Do you have a ride?”
