Chapter 83. Engulfed by Flames

Rufus’s POV

‘Rufus?’

That familiar voice called inside my mind. It wasn’t that of my wolf, Silver, but a melodic female tone. Her voice brought me warmth and happiness, and it was a voice I thought I would never hear again.

‘Rufus? Can you hear me?’

I could see Mia inside my mind, her eyes panicked as she searched for me. It was as though she was wandering through this forest at night, looking for me in the darkness.

‘Rufus! Wake up!’

‘Wake up?’ I asked in response ‘Mia, I am awake. Where are you? Why are you here?’

I could see her, but I couldn’t touch her. I reached out, and my hands tried to grab her image but they just shifted through her as though she were made of smoke.

‘I’m here Rufus,’ Mia said, still searching for me ‘But you need to wake up, or you will die.’

‘No,’ I replied sternly ‘I am very much alive’
