Chapter 13

Adelaide's POV

Ruby started to walk more slowly, and I had to force myself to wake up. She approached a small river and began to lap at the water, giving me the impression that she had been running for some time. It had become quite dark outside as the sun had set. There was some light because the moon was out. Although I did not know where Yates was, I could tell Ruby had lost him. 

When Ruby finished her drinking water, I asked her, "Did you lose Yates?" 

"He is not far behind either. Although I lost him for a time, he ought to be returning any moment." Ruby answered right before Yates toppled her to the ground, breaking through the trees.

After some time of wrestling, Yates pinned both of us to the ground. It was evident to me that the wolves were having fun. After we finished wrestling, Yates indicated for us to return to the house while we drank some more water. We had sprinted quite a distance into the woods and had to walk a
