Chapter 17
The guards looked at each other, unsure of what to do. They had been ordered to keep Daciana locked up until Killian returned, and they didn't want to disobey their king's orders.
"Please, just let me out. I promise I won't cause any trouble," Daciana pleaded, her voice growing softer.
She couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that hung over her, knowing that she was the one who had caused his death even though he had been hitting her. The guards snickered to themselves at the pleading in her tone; the king ordered them not to touch her, but they wanted to have fun anyway.
As they walked down the dimly lit hallway of the prison, their cruel laughter echoed off the cold stone walls. They approached the cell of their prisoner.
