The banquet ended soon after that. Everyone was scared, but Lucien refused to leave until he knew that Daciana was okay. His beast, the primal part of himself that was fiercely protective of his mate, would not let him rest until he knew that she was safe.

Killian, understanding Lucien's concern, assured him that he would send word as soon as Daciana was well. Lucien nodded, grateful for Killian's understanding.

"I will take care of her and send her your way once she is properly healed."

Lucien nodded.

He went back to the hall. He needed to get away from there. His anger was just below the surface, and his beast was still out for blood, but for the sake of the king, he had to keep calm.
