Chapter 31. Prove It
“This isn’t over.” Sending the girls one last look, Damon spun on his feet and stalked for the door. He fumbled to slip on his shirt while following after Sarah who had not wasted a second before bolting down the hall.
How could he have been so out of it that he not only failed to hear her but was also foolishly oblivious to how close her scent had drifted?
She was right at the door, listening to them, hearing all that nonsense he had spewed from his mouth!
‘Fuck. Is there a way to turn back time?’
Picking up his speed, Damon grabbed her door the second she tried to slam it shut behind her. Her eyes widened, standing there like a deer caught in the headlights.
“I w-wasn’t eavesdropping!” She defended while bowing far too low, her head diving for her knees. “I’m sorry! I just… I heard something smash. I swear I only wanted to check if they were okay. I’d never… I’d never eavesdrop. Please believe me!”
