Chapter 37. Warmth

“Damon?” Sarah stuck her head into the kitchen, eyes searching the room. It was empty, no sign of Damon. “Where’d he go?” She mumbled, turning on her feet.

It was almost time for Trixie and Haguy to leave. Deep down, it was sad to see them go just days after they became friends but they were happy and promised to visit if Damon allowed it. That was all Sarah needed.

She climbed the stairs, running her hand along the banister. She’d been looking all over for Damon, searching every nook and cranny except the guest rooms.

Raking a hand through her hair, Sarah headed straight down the hall and to the guestrooms. She checked the first and he wasn’t there. The second and still no sign of him. Annoyed, she slammed open the door to the third room, glaring at Damon’s figure laying across the huge bed. She caught the twitch of his eyes as he squeezed them close and the soft sway of the rocking chair he had most certainly just been sitting in.
