Chapter 8
General Carr sat rigid at his desk. He had a chiseled face that seemed to be locked in a constant snarl. His white hair gave him a look of cold authority. Even his one white eyebrow, which extended across his forehead that would have made a lesser man look silly, somehow made him look more intimidating. His personal aide, Captain Robinson, stood behind the general; she too was frowning at Natasha and Major Ross.
“How could you let her escape?” General Carr yelled at Major Ross and Natasha. He slammed his hands down on the desk, making the American flag draped on the wall behind him shake.
“We didn’t let her escape,” Major Ross said. “She overpowered the guards.”
The general glared at them. “How could that be? I thought they had mind-blocking devices.”
Major Ross lowered his head. “They removed them. The buzzing sounds gave them headaches. Besides, our profilers said she would never leave Natasha.
