Chapter 9
Tasha rolled down the window of the taxi, enjoying the fresh night air as they drove. She had been out at night before but never for so long. When they were on back roads away from the glare of the city lights, Tasha was able to see the stars shining above. Natasha once told Tasha the stars made her feel so tiny, knowing each one is a sun with other planets around it. And as vast as the sky above may seem, people only saw a small portion of the universe. Seeing all the stars made Tasha feel like she was connected to the tapestry of the entire universe.
The taxi had to stop for gasoline once, in a small 24-hour Quik Fil station somewhere in upstate NY. Tasha for all her experience and training never had to pump gasoline before. The driver could have done it for her. The driver could have done anything for her, but she wanted to do this for herself. Tasha bit her lip with nervous excitement as she got out of the car. She used her powers to disable all the gas stations’ security
