Chapter 115. Emotional Discovery II

I rested my head on my mom's lap while she gently stroked my head to make me feel better and help me fall asleep. She didn't ask me any questions or say anything, which was nice. I didn't really feel like talking. I was waiting anxiously for Cassian to come back. It had been more than an hour since he left with the police. Thanks to him, I found out the truth. Otherwise, I would have kept thinking these people were my parents. I couldn't help but wonder what my life would have been like with my real parents. Mr. Carter said my parents loved me a lot. Maybe I would have had a happy life with normal parents who really cared about me. I don't know if Cassian would have come into my life, but at least I would have had my parents. Instead of my birth parents, I have a loving husband now.

The door opened, and Cassian came in, holding some papers. I lifted my head from my mom's lap, and she stood up. "I think you guys need some alone time."
