As the girls led Seraphina to my room, everyone else went to their own chambers. I felt a sense of trepidation as I thought about how to tell her the truth.
When we reached my room and I went to open the door, Noah and a few other cousins stood in my way. "Hold on, Romeo," Noah said, knowing the situation. Rahul, another cousin, chimed in, "Yeah, you can't go in your room where your new wife is until you meet our demands." I rolled my eyes in frustration and asked, "What do you want now? I've had enough of today's nonsense, and now you guys are joining in." Noah held out his hand and said, "Just 15,000 rupees, that's all." Irritated, I replied, "Or better yet, just leave me alone and go to your own rooms."
"No chance. Pay up or we'll get mom involved," Noah said with a smirk. Why did everyone always bring our mom into it?
