Chapter 47. Just a Stranger II
I got home pretty late in the evening after talking to the police about the case. The good news was that Ashok Khanna got eight years in jail, but I felt he deserved an even harsher punishment.
When I went inside, Seraphina rushed down the stairs and stood in front of me. Her eyes seemed empty, and even though she looked better than before, I knew she was still shocked. "Ash - I shouldn't say his name. That guy got what he deserved. He's going to jail for eight years, so you won't see him again," I told her. She seemed a little more alive after hearing that. She hugged me tightly, but then she started crying, and I worried that something was wrong. I held her and asked, "What happened? Are you okay?" She let go of the hug, which confused me. "Thank you... and I'm sorry," she said with a weak smile, wiping away her tears.
