Ousmane’s POV
I heard her sniffling. She was crying, and I suddenly felt guilty.
“Hawa, I’m sorry,” I said.
She said nothing.
I sighed and parked the car, realizing we had already arrived at the house. She opened the door, took the bowls, and got out quickly. I locked the doors and went to my room. I performed my ablutions and went to the mosque for prayer, but I was delayed a little because I spent a moment talking with a neighbor.
When I returned, I found that Hawa had set the table for dinner. But unlike other days, she did not join me to eat. I ate and went to my room, realizing my mistake. What was wrong with me?
I took my phone and called Zayate.
“Hello, baby!” I said.
“Heeey,” she replied in a sleepy voice.
“Are you sleeping?”
“Yes, baby.”
“I miss you, baby.”
“I miss you too. Let me call you back later, baby, I’m sleepy.”
