Chapter 125. Attack
Joan POV
“We’ll be right back,” Aaron said to one of his men while I rubbed my stomach, my brows drawn together.
He was tense. His shoulders were rigid, and I couldn’t help but feel tense too. He had been telling me about a certain Maco and how he was related to my dad before he got a call.
I’d seen panic flash in his eyes, and I knew whatever it was... it wasn’t good.
“Keep me posted,” he said before walking over to me and leading me toward one of the cars.
“Shouldn’t we...” I glanced at the men standing behind us. “Shouldn’t we bring them with us?” I asked, and he shook his head, helping me in before turning around and getting into the driver’s seat.
Once he got in, he reached over and strapped the seatbelt on me before meeting my gaze.
His jaw clenched.
“We’ll be fine,” he muttered, and I bit my lower lip before nodding. Though I was a little skeptical, I trusted Aaron.
