Chapter 41. Acceptance

Maureen's POV

After Dominus left me, I thought of everything for a while. I couldn't possibly stay in that place forever, I had to get myself together and accept everything. 

Then I thought of Lance. When I had told him I wanted to be alone for a while, he didn't look happy about it but I insisted. 

He sent Lucia to me but I also told her I wanted to be left alone. Lucia insisted that I talk to Lance first but I told her that I wanted to be alone for at least thirty minutes. 

Lucia being the stubborn one, sat beside me for a while. But when she realised that I wasn't changing my mind, she left me alone.

Putting myself in Lance's shoes, I knew my mind would be working non stop, wandering why my mate would want to be alone. Knowing myself and how my mind was likely to work, I would think maybe he was even having second thoughts about our mateship.
