Chapter 45. My Mothers

Maureen's POV

After Lance left, we were both silent. Mum was turned away from me as if she didn't want to look at me.

'Mum I am sorry,' I said, not knowing exactly how to start the discussion.

She turned to face me, surprise evident on her face.

'Why are you apologizing to me?' She asked, frowning at me.

'I am sorry that I disrupted your friend's life. I know that is why you hate me and you don't want to have anything to do with me,' I explained.

'Why would you say I hate you? Hate is a very strong word,' she said.

'I have never felt loved by you. All you have ever done is leave me to the care of the maids and Lance. I had always wondered why you were never like every other mother but now I know better, I do not blame you mum. I just wanted to tell you that,' I said and stood up to leave the room knowing full well that she would leave after I had left.

As I was about to turn the door knob, her voice stopped me.

'I don't hate you, Mauree
