Zane struggled to comprehend what had just been said.

He heard Alex mention that Becca and the baby were gone. Clutching his chest, he stumbled backward in shock. “My wife and my son! No!” he cried out loud. "I do not believe that!"

Alpha Terzic seized him and dragged him towards his car. Just then, another vehicle drove up to the packhouse. Alpha King Jerney had arrived. After parking, he walked over to where Terzic was holding Zane against the car.

"What's happening here? Why does everyone look so beaten up?" he asked, sensing the palpable tension in the air. "I hope no one has been killed."

"Jerney, I've lost everything, my wife and son. Alex said before he was killed that they died during childbirth," Zane lamented, overwhelmed with grief. "I can't imagine life without Becca. My life is over!" Zane's voice trembled with disbelief and devastation. He was a broken man; this blow had hit him hard.
