Johnston leaped over the fence, and I rushed into his embrace.
Seeing him brought an overwhelming sense of relief, like discovering a lifeline I hadn't realized I needed.
"Johnston," I exclaimed, my voice thick with emotion.
He embraced me, pulling me close with a firm hold.
"Luna," he murmured, the name dripping from his lips with a blend of respect and playful teasing. For an instant, the title startled me, but then I understood he was teasing me.
"I've missed you, Johnston," I said with a hint of distress as I leaned my head against his chest. "When I heard you went to be with your mate, it felt like there was no room for me in your life anymore, especially since I knew who she was."
