I informed Becca that we would be departing for Paxton in two days. In my heart, I genuinely hoped she used this chance to escape once more. While I was bringing her back out of a commitment to Alex as his Beta, I wasn't entirely sure it was the right decision.

She didn't feel at home in Paxton; being with Alex for a lifetime felt like a slow demise. Alex was aware of this but driven by his thirst for power, he was more than willing to sacrifice her for the sake of the pack. However, it didn't work that way.
