Chapter 106. It’s Betrayal

Ezra’s POV

I told her I wouldn’t follow.

I promised I would stay back.

But my heart wouldn’t let me. The minute Layla left for the gala, I knew I was not going to sit and wait.

There was just something about Orion’s presence that made every bone in me restless.

The hall was alive with people dancing, music playing, and glasses clinking. I hung back. I didn’t want to be noticed. I looked around and then I saw her. Layla. She was making her way toward the stairs.

My chest tightened.

She’s going to his office.

I didn’t need to guess where she was heading. I already knew.

I did not go after her. I remained back, letting some time pass. But then Orion showed up, shaking hands, smiling his fake smile, and then excusing himself and walking in the same direction Layla had gone. My stomach sank.

If he finds her…

I paused for a moment, then started moving. Steady, I followed from behind. I kept Orion at a distance so he
