Chapter 101. I Will Make Them Pay

Ezra’s POV

When Layla returned from the party, she wasted no time talking. The moment she entered the room, the words started spilling out.

“Tonight was long but worth it.”

It was as if she had been suppressing every thought like a breath for the entire evening. Now that release came all at once, urgent and unfiltered.

The first thing she talked about was Grace. How Grace had stood in front of all those people and tried to embarrass her, tried to belittle her.

“Can you imagine?” she said, shaking her head, her earrings fluttering with the motion. “She wanted to act like she was the one with the power, but the moment I called her out for stealing my designs, all the air left her body. Everyone saw her for what she really is, Ezra. Everyone saw.” Her voice trembled slightly.

With that, she began to pace faster, as if the memory fueled her steps. She paced back and forth in the room, the sound of her heels softly clicking against the floors.
