A few months later, it was learned that the assassins who attacked the king in the capital had been captured and executed. The three men responsible for killing King Rorik were found hiding in a small village deep in the mountains. They confessed to plotting his death and even revealed that they had hired a group of mercenaries to carry out the job. Apparently, they had spent most of their time there planning the attack and awaiting orders from the capital.
It wasn't long after that when news spread across the entire kingdom that a third son had taken the throne. As his older brother, he received plenty of invitations to visit the palace, and he accepted them all.
