Chapter 16. Astonished Gazes

"I'll just wait for you here," I said as the bell rang, signaling the end of their break time. I waved goodbye to Lily and Andrei as they headed back to their classes.

I found myself at their school, tasked with watching over them until they returned home, as Auntie Anne had requested. It was fine with me since I had no other plans or things to do. Auntie Anne had taken Roy to work so he could learn the ropes at the company.

The school grounds stretched out before me, and I could understand why the tuition fees were so high here. The children were fortunate to study in such a well-equipped place. Many kids, including myself, dream of getting a quality education but are held back by life's challenges and hardships.

The cost of their tuition alone could feed a person for a year. It was a substantial sum, and it was hard not to feel envious, especially when you saw the stark difference in our lives. Some struggled to afford basic necessities, while others had more tha
