Chapter 17. Meeting
I pretended to be arranging the chairs when Lily caught my attention. She was already dressed in her pajamas, book in hand, and glasses perched on her nose.
"I thought... you'd already gone upstairs, Uncle Roy?" she asked, looking surprised.
"Just had a few things left to do," Roy simply replied.
"What is it?" she asked again, approaching me to sit down. "Ms. Ina, could you make me a glass of milk, please? I can't sleep."
"Of course." I promptly followed her request and prepared the milk for her.
"After you finish your milk, you should head to bed," Roy suggested.
"Yes, Uncle. I will," I heard Lily reply.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead as I poured the milk into the glass. For the second time, it was Lily who had almost caught us. I didn't know whether to be relieved that it wasn't Auntie Anne or concerned that Lily hadn't mentioned what she saw.
"Aren't you going upstairs yet, Uncle?"
