Hadley simply smiled and thanked everyone at the table. She could finally breathe a sigh of relief as she walked toward Jethro’s location.
“What are you doing here, Doctor?” Jethro was perplexed.
“Just follow what I’m doing. I told them that we were discussing an important matter. All I want to do is get away from them...” Hadley muttered.
“What are we going to talk about then?”
“Just pretend!”
“O-Okay. So we’re acting right now?”
“Sort of. You’re great.”
Hadley only ended their supposedly serious conversation after ensuring that Dorothy’s friends were no longer talking about them. After that, they went to the garden. Then, a waiter came up behind them, carrying a tray of alcoholic beverages. She took a glass of red wine and drank breathlessly.
“You may now leave me alone,” Hadley said to Jethro.
“No,” Jethro said flatly. “But why did you do that?”
