The possible reason for Kathleen’s visit immediately came to her mind. ‘But why would she want to talk to me first?’ Hadley wondered, unsure of what to feel about it.
“Let her wait in the break room. I’ll just finish what I’m doing,” Hadley swallowed hard as she ordered her assistant.
“All right.” Karen nodded and left.
Hadley sighed and wiped her face with her palms as the door closed again.
‘How am I going to face that woman? I still can’t believe I’m feeling sorry for a sin I didn’t commit. Is this the beginning of the turmoil of my quiet life?’ Hadley thought, frustrated.
Hadley and Kathleen faced each other in defeating silence at the cafeteria table where they first met. Hadley felt uncomfortable talking to her in an enclosed place, so she invited the girl here.
