I heaved out a sigh and turned to leave when I caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure darting past the kitchen window. My breath hitched immediately, and I quietly grabbed a small kitchen knife on top of the counter. My hand tightened around it.

My sharp gaze glanced around the place, and that’s when the disgusting smell of rogues wafted through my nose, and my gaze widened.

How did they get in here? Did they even know where they were? I thought, confusion flashing in my eyes, deepening my frown.
