Chapter 20. Who Is This?

Jennifer’s POV

After school, I ran into Bob in the parking lot. I left school earlier today because I didn’t have practice. I climbed into Bob’s car, and he began driving. Throughout the drive, we maintained a comfortable silence.

“Are you hungry?” he asked me out of nowhere. I shook my head.

“Nope,” I said.

“I don’t think so,” he replied, turning to the left. I knew he was heading to the diner because that wasn’t the way to my house. I didn’t want to bother him, so I just did it.

We arrived at the diner, got out of the car, and walked up to the restaurant. I entered after he opened the door for me. I was surprised when he placed his hand on my back and gently pushed me towards the empty table in front of us.
