Elizabeth's POV
I blinked a couple of times, my eyes squinting at the television screen as if maybe the image would suddenly change and prove me wrong. When it didn’t, I rubbed my eyes with both hands, my palms pressing tightly like maybe my sight was failing me or the hotel TV had lost its mind. But no, it was still there. My face. Clear as day.
For a moment, I just stood there, completely frozen. The sound of the news reporter’s voice faded into the background. I could barely hear her anymore. All I could focus on was the image staring right back at me.
