Emma’s POV
I trembled as his words cut deep into my soul. “Your mother was an evil witch, Emma. She was power-hungry and manipulative, using her magic to control and destroy. And that’s why the pack members fear and hate you even more. They think you will follow in her footsteps, that you will become just like her when you grow up.”
I felt the world around me split for a second, my breath knocked out of me. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“Why?” I asked, my voice shaking. “Why would she do those things?”
His expression was grim. “Because she was consumed by her ambition. She wanted power and control, no matter the cost. And she didn’t care who she hurt to get it.”
I felt a wave of nausea wash over me. I couldn’t bear the thought of being like my mother, of hurting innocent people.
“I won’t be like her,” I said, my voice firm. “I won’t let that happen.”
