Carla's POV 

"I wouldn't," Carter promises. "But who told you you found someone suitable?" I knew he would surely say this, I turned my face away, pretending as if I'm not hearing a word of what he's saying.

My phone rings again, many minutes later, now after it last rang and I look at it, it's Julie. I sigh in frustration. Why is she really bothering me? I declined the call, moving to my messaging app to forward a text to her.

"Anything urgent baby. If not, please do not disturb me. I'm coming home when I'm done." I end my statement with a full stop and send it. Cara suspects something about who it is from the way she looks at me. She makes a gesture to Carter to excuse us.

"I want to talk to her." She takes me to the part of the office off the hearing of Carter before she begins to speak to me. "Who's that?"

"Cara, it's Julie. My roommate." I feel the urge to add but stopping here, not going further. "Can I know the relationship
