Chapter 18

They left a week after Aleks had agreed to their scheme. She knew that they weren’t quite certain how it would work, Sean especially, but they had shown up.

If India had expected anything different to announce the fact they were leaving for another realm, she got nothing. There was no howling wind or extra sunlight. It was just a normal morning. 

Sean had come over the night before after drafting his resignation letter and saying goodbye to his parents. Aleks had done the same. 

At her home, they’d made dinner and talked far into the night, and when they had finally decided to rest, she and Aleks had laid together and slept. There were no dreams or visions, and now it was morning.

She stood in the library in front of the hidden door. She could see a slight glint in the lion’s eyes, a shine to the woman’s dress, and she wondered if the others could see it too.
