Chapter 19. The Whole Issue

Milan’s POV

“I understand how you feel, sweetheart,” I said, taking a deep breath. “But you know that it’s not that simple. There are so many things to consider, and I’m not sure that this is the right decision.”

“Things like what mom?”

she asked me, as she stood up.

“Well… things like um… he might already have a mate and the mate might already have kids for him.

I feel if we go stay with him, we might complicate things in his life if he does have a mate.”

Ava looked at me with a confused expression before she asked.

“What’s a mate?”

I smiled when she asked the question as I knew that she had always been quite inquisitive when she was a little younger.

“A mate is someone special to a shifter,” I explained. “When a shifter finds their mate, it’s like finding their soulmate. They are meant to be together for life, and their bond is very powerful. Some people even say that a shifter’s mate is their other half.”
