Chapter 22. The Call From Her

Jake’s POV

“Hello?” I said, not knowing who was on the other end of the line.

There was a pause, and then I heard a woman’s voice. “Hello, Alpha Jake? It’s Milan Megan.”

I was a bit surprised to hear from Milan. I thought that she wouldn’t call since she was still skeptical about bringing Ava to live with me in the pack.

I got up abruptly from the bed and sat up listening to what she wanted to say.

“What’s going on?” I asked, a bit of worry creeping into my voice. “Is everything okay?”

She was silent for a while and then she spoke.

“After discussing with Ava, we have decided that it would be best for me and her to come and stay at your pack so that you can get to know your daughter more.”

My heart leaped into my throat at those words. I hadn’t expected this turn of events, and I wasn’t sure what to say. But after a few moments of stunned silence, I managed to speak.
