Chapter 20. The Uneasy Decision

Jake’s POV

After I returned to my pack, I felt a bit downcasted as I thought about everything. I had found my daughter and my long lost mate, but I felt that she wasn’t ready to accept me as her mate and might not want me to be a part of my daughter’s life.

I sat down on my bed and sighed deeply.

I didn’t know that someone was knocking at my door. When I heard my name, My mind came back to reality.

“Alpha, are you alright?”

Maxwell asked.

“I’m... fine,” I said, my voice sounding unconvincing.

Maxwell looked at me skeptically. “You don’t look fine,” he said. “What’s going on? Is it about Ava?”

I nodded, not sure where to begin. “I... I found out that Ava is my daughter,” I said, finally finding the words. “I know that they have been through so much, and I don’t want to overwhelm her or make her feel pressured. But I also don’t want to stay away from her. I just... I don’t know what to do.”
