Chapter 66. Frustrated

Jake’s POV

I returned to my office and sat down trying to process what Maxwell had told me. If Scott was here to convince Milan to return with him to his pack and Talia had allowed him in to speak with her, that could only mean one thing.

Scott must have bribed her to give him a chance to speak with Milan, and that thought made my blood boil. How could someone do something like that to a fellow wolf, especially someone who was in a vulnerable situation like Milan?

I had to talk to Milan and warn her about what Scott was up to. But I also knew that she might not believe me, since she and Scott had once been close. I just hoped that I could get through to her before it was too late.

“I need to talk to Milan,” I said to myself as I stood up from my desk. I knew she was still in a state of shock about what I told her about the curse and all, but I felt this was important.
