Chapter 81. Shadows of Deceit

Jake’s POV

After some time, Maxwell came over to where I was in the security area to inform me that Dr. Tim wanted to see me and tell me what he found after examining the beta’s body.

“Dr. Tim said he has some information about the beta’s death,” Maxwell said, his face serious. “He wants to speak to you about it.”

My stomach churned with nerves. I knew that whatever Dr. Tim had to say was going to be difficult to hear. But I had to be strong, for the sake of my pack.

“Lead the way,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

Maxwell nodded and started walking toward Dr. Tim’s office. I followed closely behind, my mind racing with possibilities. What had Dr. Tim found out?
