Chris’s POV

It was the next day and I had just come from a run to try to clear my head. My heart was pounding in my chest as I walked into the compound, my sports clothes were drenched in sweat and I was tired. 

“Good day to you, Mr. Kingston,” The gardener greeted me, and I nodded his way, flashing him a small smile. But I felt weird, I felt like he knew. I felt like he knew about the Meghan thing on the news or via the internet. 

Whether he had heard it from his family or friends, the fact remained that I felt like he knew. And now, maybe he was judging me. Meghan had ruined my reputation and painted me as one of the biggest mistakes I had made in my life. 

I picked up my pace, wanting to get into the villa as quickly as possible, but without raising eyebrows. When I finally walked into the huge house, I let out a breath that I had not realized that I had been holding.
