Chapter 46. Traveling
Xerina’s POV
The next few days passed in a blur of preparation and emotional fuckery. Chrissy fussed over me, making sure I ate properly and rested, while Luca handled business in town. I wasn’t sure why he was here, but he seemed to relish the opportunity to keep an eye on me.
Chrissy hovered over me like a worried hen, her brow furrowed with concern. “You need to eat more, Xerina,” she insisted, pushing a plate of food towards me. “You can’t go through the car ride on an empty stomach.”
I sighed, picking at the food. “I’m not hungry, Chrissy.”
She crossed her arms, a stern look on her face. “I don’t care. You’re eating it.”
Luca breezed in, a stack of papers in his hand. “What’s this? Chrissy playing Mother Hen again?”
Chrissy shot him a glare. “Someone has to take care of her. You’re too busy pretending to be important.”
Luca smirked, dropping the papers on the table. “Someone has to keep the family business running.”
