Chapter 17. A Promise Made

Emma’s POV

Doctor Rosen finishes bandaging up my nose and I walk out of the clinic room with my eyes glued to the ground. I can only imagine the rumors that are spreading about me now. I got out of the Beta’s car and stopped a fight between the Alpha and the Beta. Then the Alpha brought me into the clinic and waited with me.

Keeping my eyes on the ground I follow the walkways out of the clinic and head straight for the front door. As I walk out the front door I am blinded by the afternoon sun and run straight into a wall. Or at least I thought it was a wall. Falling backward onto my bottom I grunt as I look up at the sky and see someone smiling back down at me.

“Daniel,” I say as I take his outstretched hand and he helps me to my feet. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to check on you,” He says shyly as he rubs the back of his neck. “And I suppose that I wanted to tell you to thank you,” He adds at the end.

“Thank me?” I cock my head to the side
