Chapter 31. Conflict
Raymond’s POV
Just then, a cacophony from outside the room interrupted.
“Find out what is going on,” I told Alec.
Alec offered a curt bow, before going out. A few minutes later, he came back inside, with a face so gloomy that it was almost dripping with water.
“Alpha, it is not good. Three maids suddenly collapsed.”
I had already stood up before his voice landed, bolting out of the room, and the rest of us followed.
A short distance from my study, several maids had gathered, surrounding three maids who seemed to be unconscious, with their attempts to wake them futile.
Sir Whitmore stepped forward to check their pulses. However, as he moved from the first maid to the second, his visage grew uglier with each passing moment.
A bad inkling grew in my heart, and I watched as Sir Whitmore uttered in a heavy tone, “I am afraid that as a result of the strange illness, the three maids have met their end.”
