Chapter 39. Agreement
Aurelia’s POV
I stumbled into the wilderness, breath coming in ragged sobs. My feet, bare and now bloodied, sank into the damp ground of the forests, each movement making a loud platter on the surface.
My eyes blurred by hot, and unrelenting tears, was bloodshot, and I did not even know when my foot caught on a tangled root and my body lurched forward.
My head slammed against the bark of an ancient tree, and the pain of having my skull shake took my breath away.
The forest spun and I crumbled to the ground. But the pain in my head could not compare to the one I felt at heart.
The guilt, the agony, the loss, and the empty hollow feeling in my heart, that seemed as though a section of my heart had been carved out.
With a shaky breath, I struggled to stand.
“Why?” I screamed, lungs almost bursting at the friction, but that did not stop me. “Why did it have to be him? Why couldn’t it be me?”
