Chapter 9. Don’t Bully My Bully
When Monday came around, I was feeling great. I returned home Sunday afternoon after spending most of my weekend with Austin. We got a lot of work done, which meant we would have more time during the week to prepare for the projects we were about to assign to our students. I hummed to myself as I headed to my car, eager to get going. I tried to rush to my car when I noticed Mrs. Keeler walking her dog in front of my house.
“Oh, hello, Edgar. I didn’t see you at all this weekend. Did you visit a friend?” Mrs. Keeler asked me with a bright smile.
“Yes, I did. Forgive me, I’m running late,” I replied curtly as I got into my car. She seemed unfazed by my rudeness.
“Have a good day,” she waved as she continued walking her dog. As I drove away, I felt a sudden surge of anger. I was angry at Austin’s parents but also frustrated that I couldn’t invite Austin over to my house. My childhood home was a spacious two-story house with four bedrooms, an attic, and a finished base
