Chapter 10. Intimidation Tactics with My Bully
It felt great to finish working before 6 o’clock. I stretched at my desk and let out a loud yawn. Austin nodded in agreement, and we both got up, leaving the office.
“It’s so nice to have the bulk of the grading done over the weekend,” I remarked as we headed to the parking lot.
“Yeah, maybe we should make it a regular thing, so we can usually leave by dinnertime,” Austin chuckled.
“What are you cooking for dinner tonight?” I asked.
“Just a chicken salad, maybe with some avocado. You?” Austin asked.
“My mother gave me her old recipe book, so I’m planning on cooking one of the dishes she used to make for me,” I replied with a smile.
“I remember her homemade meatloaf. She used to bring one over after my parents had a bad fight. It was her way of checking on us; at least, that’s what I came to believe,” Austin said, a touch of sadness in his voice.
“I’ll make some meatloaf then and bring you leftovers for lunch tomorrow,” I offered.
