Chapter 112
Serena POV
I tried to focus on the files on my desk, but my eyes kept sliding to the clock, and the hands moved too slowly, like they were mocking me. Myles had not come back yet. He had said he was going to see Tobias, but that was hours ago. I tapped my pen against the paper, reading the same sentence over and over without taking it in.
The building was quieter now, and most of the staff were packing up, talking in low voices as they closed for the day. I rubbed my forehead and let out a shaky breath.
Davies and the feds were closing in, and I could feel it in the way they looked at us, at Myles. It was like they could smell a secret, and I wished he would finally let go of this biker mess, leave the Reaper behind and stay with me in the light. But I knew better, Myles didn’t just stop. He carried ghosts inside him, and sometimes I wondered if he even wanted to lay them down.
I picked up my phone and called him.
“Myles,” I said when he answered
