It was almost as if Damien’s life had taken a new route of unpredictable excitement and anxiety after he got that call from Cassandra. She suddenly hung up without saying anything else to him. It left him utterly speechless; she hadn’t even waited a second to allow him to get a word in before she abruptly ended the call.

He was on edge, conflicted about what he was supposed to do. When it was finally time for lunch break in the office, he just stayed back in his own office and started thinking about the incident over and over again. If Cassandra was not going to let him help out directly, then he would have to find a way to track down those guys and figure out why they were after her in the first place.
