Chapter 35. The Dates

“Right, you get the girls ready for bed after they have finished eating, then either work on the dates or have a nap. Have you taken your tablets today?”

Bed sounds good for me, to be honest.

“No, I totally forgot.” I haven’t taken my pills. That will explain why I am so tired.

“Alena, you have to remember to take them every day, no matter what.”

He gets up and walks to the kitchen. Grabbing the tablets and a glass of water, he walks back to me. Placing them on the table, he watches as I take them.

“I am going to take them. I just forgot today, that is all. Would you like to check in my mouth to make sure I swallowed them?”

Laughing, I hope he sees I am joking and I don’t actually mean it, although, somehow, I think he is worried I won’t be taking them like I am meant to be.

“I will start asking that if you keep missing them.” He laughs, shaking his head.
