“Nice to meet you, Alex! And what’s your story?”

“Well, I’ve been wandering all my life. I really don’t have much to say.”

Mary’s eyebrows rose in surprise. “Wandering? Do you mean you’ve traveled a lot?” she asked.

“Not really. I just moved around every now and then. Always looking for something. But I guess I never found what I was searching for,” he said.

“Why don’t you find yourself and do whatever you want to do?” Mary asked.

Alex did not answer immediately. Instead, he looked at Mary. For a moment, she was afraid he might cry. But instead, he burst out laughing. “There are times when we lose ourselves while wandering. But eventually, you find yourself again,” he said with his mouth wide open.

This time Mary couldn’t stop giggling. She had not seen this side of him before and found him extremely funny. “You’re right. Life is full of surprises,” she said. “But sometimes we can’t really see it.”
